Raising this breed is not for the novice, as in the first 2 weeks the dogs are very vulnerable and have immature immune system. Poor hygiene, chill, lack of immune protection against viruses, ingestion, and so forth may be fatal for the baby dog. Usually there are 4-7 babies in a litter, but 12 babies are also possible. Often caesarian section is necessary to deliver, because these dogs have very large skulls. If the bitch doesn’t want to care for her children for the first days, the breeder has to bottle-feed them.
